Regicide: Warhammer 40K - Ninjar Studios

A narrative-driven spin on a time-honoured board game set in the 40K universe. The game combines high production value aesthetics with a depth of interesting tactical gameplay and customisation options. The player builds their team in order to beat the AI (skirmish and campaign mode) and human opponents in casual and ranked multiplayer. Upon release on Steam the game garnered very positive reviews from both users and the press (including on Total Biscuit's WTF series).

I served as the principal UI programmer for the entire project, I had a hand in the creation of every single piece of 2D UI across the game and was the sole programming contributor on the majority of the 2D UI screens.  This included managing a client and artists who were not used to working on game development projects and so needed guidance when it came to authoring their UI assets.

I was also responsible for many of the 3D UI elements such as floating combat text and tile highlights. In addition to these tasks, I implemented Steam achievements and managed loading and saving files for all offline game modes.

With the game released we began work on the iPhone and iPad versions of the game which we completed a few months later. The game has now also been ported to Android.
